Andrei Uller – Guitarist
Andrei Uller, a graduate student at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM), is working on his Doctorate of Musical Arts (DMA) in Guitar Performance and Pedagogy. While at Santa Catarina State University (UDESC) Uller was an Assistant Professor of Guitar and Music Education. In 2014 he acted as a research professor at UDESC, and was selected as an ad hoc consultant concerning school management plans in Santa Catarina state. He was also selected to participate in updating the proposed curriculum for schools in Santa Catarina state. During the second half of 2012, he was admitted to the 1st Máster en Interpretación de Guitarra Clásica de Alicante located in Spain, where he was coached by renowned guitarists David Russell, Ignacio Rodes, Hopkinson Smith, Roberto Aussel, Manuel Barrueco, Carles Trepat and Nigel North. This course had just 13 students from many parts of the globe, including Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Denmark, Equator, Spain, the United States of America, Mexico and Norway.
Andrei Uller holds the Master of Music Degree from UDESC in the Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES), and also has two undergraduate degrees in Music Education and Guitar Bachelor from the same institution (UDESC), where he studied with guitarists André Moura and Luiz Mantovani. His eclectic repertoire reaches from the 16th through the 21st century. In 2006, he was appointed Analyst in Educational Management by the Secretary of Education of Santa Catarina State. In 2011, he was given an award by the Culture Foundation of Blumenau for a project entitled Violão Catarinense; he recorded a CD including works by Edino Krieger, Ricardo Boppré, Otávio Rosa and himself. In 2010, he received a scholarship through an exchange program supported by two government agencies: the Fund for Improvement of Post Secondary Education – FIPSE (USA) and Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior – CAPES (BRAZIL). That year he studied at Marshall University (Huntington/EUA) and presented recitals in West Virginia and Kentucky.
